Off Grid Canadian Cabin-- Is it for everyone?

And when I say envelop ourselves, I do mean in the sunsets that span from west to east across the whole lake, the hundreds of species of birds singing us to sleep and waking us up, the massive trees swaying and rustling in the breeze, the evening that barely grazes full darkness before daybreak reappears. But as lovely as all of that is, no trip up here is all roses and sunsets and singing birds.. it's poison ivy, HUGE spiders, broken tools, and of course....always a LOT of work! Luckily it's just the sort of thing that we actually enjoy doing, but is it for everyone? This week I feel like we actually took it pretty easy and got the front trim on the cabin painted. What a HUGE difference it made! It really makes me want to continue on and paint the rest of the trim on the cabin. Maybe next time! There was plenty more to do, and we did get it all done. From stacking wood to sweeping off the whole exterior of the cabin, to weed wacking the lawn and cutting back trees.... is all just part of the off grid experience, and it doesn't always go as planned! We're just two regular people trying to figure it all out together and laugh at the mistakes and learn from the mishaps along the way. Every time we're up there, we do learn something new that we try to remember for our next trip up! We hope you enjoy this episode and we'll see you again soon!
