Where is the perineum? First awareness exercise 🧘‍♀️ 👉👉🧘‍♀️In this video, I offer a guided meditation to help you feel the perineum, also called Mula Bandha in Yoga. You'll see that Steven Spielberg can sleep soundly, ha ha! I can only get better at video, but that's not the point, thank you for your indulgence 🙏. Today, I'm offering you a perineum awareness exercise taught by Vanessa Brouillet (YAMA Aix Marseille school) over 10 years ago. I've regularly offered it to my patients since then. 👉I invite you to develop your awareness of the pelvic floor and learn some essential bony landmarks: the pubis, the ischial bones, and the coccyx. By the end of this guided exercise, you will have significantly increased your awareness of the perineal area. 👉As a physiotherapist specializing in perineal rehabilitation and osteopath, I encourage you to feel your perineum as you exhale, to improve any potential incontinence issues or work on them preventatively. 👉In yoga, most yoga teachers will guide you to engage your perineum while inhaling; this is often more intuitive for beginners. 👉Do not hold pelvic floor contractions for too long; instead, observe the engaging or relaxing effect of the different breathing phases (inhalation or exhalation). 👉 If you are watching this video because you are suffering from pelvic issues (incontinence, pain, etc.), I strongly encourage you to seek professional help.
