Camping Really Is Therapy — Thomas Mountain Overland Escape in SoCal

I headed up to Thomas Mountain near Idyllwild, CA for an overland trip I didn’t know I really needed. The plan was simple: slow down, find some quiet, and explore a few yellow post campsites along the way. Getting up there, seeing the views, and being away from the city honestly felt like therapy. After setting up camp, I shared a few essential camp knots I always use, walked through a couple camper upgrades I’ve made recently, and then settled in for the night. The wind picked up, but I still managed to cook a grass-fed steak on the Tembo Tusk Skottle with potatoes and asparagus, watch the sunset, and relax by the fire. Later, I hid from the wind inside the camper with a hot cocktail and a movie. In the morning — coffee, eggs, sausage, sunrise, and birds. Exactly what I needed.
