How to Get Deeper in the Hamstrings
One position change that gave me access to the hamstrings I couldn't reach for years. Here's why I flex the knee before I go deep. In this video I demonstrate two approaches to the hamstrings — broadening strokes with the leg extended and soft fist work with the knee flexed. I show why the hamstrings feel taut when the leg is straight (passive stretch from joint position, not guarding) and how flexing the knee passively shortens the muscle group, giving access to deeper structures.
