VN24 - 12-05-2023 (D/M/Y) - Oelde A2 / Germany - A fully loaded Semitrailer was heading westbound on the A2 freeway early in the morning at 5:30 am. Shortly after the Oelde junction, the young driver's vehicle presumably went out of control after a tire blowout on the tractor unit and drifted off the road to the right. It drove through a ditch and then came to a halt on a grassy area, badly damaged. The accident ruptured the tank and about 200 liters of diesel fuel spilled into the ground. The fire department pumped the remaining fuel into another tank. During the time-consuming recovery operation involving three tow trucks, the right-hand wheels pushed further and further into the soft soil of the ditch, causing the Semitrailer to become dangerously tilted. When apparently poorly secured cargo then suddenly slipped on the loading area and lodged itself in the tarpaulin from the inside, the truck threatened to tip over. A mobile crane had to be called in to the scene of the accident to secure further recovery operations.
