A Brief Lesson of EMD...In Motion! Great Lakes Central's Diesel Mixed Bag

Great Lakes Central may well be my favorite modern railroad. Running from Osmer (just north of Ann Arbor) up to Petoskey, with several branches along the way, the railroad covers much of Michigan. Their roster is pretty eclectic too, with the newest locomotive being built in 1972. There are GP35s that have called these rails home since being built for the Ann Arbor, GP38-2s that supplemented the fleet about a decade ago, SD40-2s that are rebuilt from an SD40 and an SD45, and recently three rare SD35s appeared and started pulling freight. On Monday, June 28th, 2021, I had a few hours to kill and went up to Owosso. I caught both the Owosso North Turn and Owosso South Turn, plus GLC's GE 25-Tonner switching cars! It made for a great time chasing these vintage EMD diesels.
