Full title: The Socioeconomic Landscape in Western Visayas and Negros: Insights from the Philippines Socioeconomic Panel Survey (PSPS) Wave 1 How can longitudinal panel surveys strengthen evidence-based evaluations and program design? Policymakers, researchers, and development practitioners gathered for the launch of the Philippines Socioeconomic Panel Survey (PSPS) Wave 1 Data on June 2, 2026, at the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) in Iloilo City and via Zoom. The event featured the presentation of key findings from the PSPS Wave 1, a 20-year panel survey tracking over 15,000 rural households across Western Visayas and the Negros Island Region. Discussions highlighted how longitudinal data can support more effective and inclusive policymaking in areas such as education, agriculture, health, climate, migration, and livelihoods. The program featured a keynote address by Northwestern University Professor Dean Karlan, panel discussions with policymakers and practitioners, and breakout sessions focused on impact evaluation, research design, and policy applications of panel survey data. The event was jointly organized by the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS), Innovations for Poverty Action Philippines (IPA), the Global Poverty Research Lab at Northwestern University (NU), and the University of the Philippines School of Economics, and co-hosted by the UP Visayas Socio-economic Research and Data Analytics Center.
