Driving Through China’s Most Beautiful Town | Yangshuo, Guilin 4K

This immersive drive takes us through Yangshuo, Guilin, a Chinese county town built among dramatic limestone karst peaks. The journey begins at Shennong Gate in Baili Xincun, follows Shenshan Road through Shenshan Village, and continues along Diecui Road, Pantao Road, Kangzhan Road, the G321 Guangzhou–Chengdu Highway and Chaoyang Road before reaching Shuiliu Village in Gaotian Town. The opening section reveals a quieter side of Yangshuo. Shenshan Village and the Baili Xincun area sit close to the historic town centre, yet guesthouses, orchards, village homes and limestone towers still share the same landscape. Baili Xincun became known as a rural-development corridor combining kumquat farming, ecological agriculture, tourism and the traditional northern Guangxi architectural character of white walls, dark tiles and sloping roofs. As the drive enters Diecui Road and Pantao Road, the surroundings become more urban and tourism-oriented. We pass the outer edge of West Street rather than driving into the pedestrian zone. Although only about 800 metres long, West Street carries more than 1,400 years of urban memory. Yangshuo County was established in AD 590, and the old street later evolved into an unusual meeting point between traditional Chinese lanes, international backpacker culture, restaurants, cafés, guesthouses and nightlife. Kangzhan Road leads south from central Yangshuo toward G321. Buildings gradually give way to villages, low valley floors and limestone towers rising almost vertically beside the road. The wider Guilin karst region is internationally known for fenglin tower karst and fengcong cone karst—landforms created as water slowly dissolved ancient limestone, leaving isolated peaks and dense clusters that appear to rise directly from fields, streets and rooftops. G321, also known as the Guangzhou–Chengdu Highway, is a major national route crossing several regions of China. In Yangshuo it also serves as a practical link between the county town, Gaotian, rural communities and surrounding tourism areas. Near Gaotian are famous landscapes such as the Ten-Mile Gallery, Moon Hill, the Big Banyan Tree and Ruyi Peak, although this video focuses on the real public roads toward Shuiliu Village rather than claiming to enter every scenic attraction. The weather changes from overcast to partly cloudy during the drive. Soft light reduces harsh shadows and creates layered views of the distant karst peaks. Beyond the postcard image of Yangshuo, this journey shows everyday neighbourhoods, tourism infrastructure, national-highway traffic, town development and rural life unfolding beneath one of China’s most recognizable landscapes.
