Drive on a cliff road built 50 years ago - Taihang Mountain, China - 4K HDR

Hongtiguan Cliff Road is one of the seven legendary hanging-wall roads chiseled into the spectacular Taihang Mountains in China. Located in Pingshun County, Changzhi City, Shanxi Province, this iconic cliffside route sits close to the expressway interchange and provides easy access to numerous surrounding scenic spots, making it a highly popular destination for self-driving tourists and photography enthusiasts. Carved by hand starting in 1968 by about 800 local villagers using only simple tools such as hammers and chisels, the road stretches approximately 10 kilometers along sheer cliffs, passing through 5 man-made tunnels with a vertical drop of nearly 200 meters and a slope gradient exceeding 30 degrees. Retaining its original unpaved gravel surface, it stands out as the most primitive and rugged among the Taihang hanging-wall roads, offering breathtaking views of towering cliffs, deep valleys, and unspoiled mountain scenery. It should be noted that while the scenery along the road is stunning, loose rocks on the cliff faces are prone to falling.
