Driving North of Guilin 4K HDR | Scenic River Valley Beneath Giant Bridges

On this trip, we follow National Highway G321 from Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County to Longsheng Various Nationalities Autonomous County in northern Guangxi. This route crosses two distinctly different landscapes. Around Sanjiang, the terrain is dominated by low mountains, rolling hills, and river valleys. The region is characterized by karst peak clusters and eroded limestone hills, with Dong villages scattered throughout the countryside. As the journey approaches Longsheng, the elevation rises dramatically. Mountains begin to dominate the landscape, and the scenery transitions into the rugged highlands for which Longsheng is known. For much of the drive, G321 winds through river valleys and mountain passes, weaving between villages, forests, and farmland. The road follows the natural contours of the terrain, offering constantly changing views of Guangxi's rural mountain landscapes. One of the highlights of the journey comes in the final section before reaching Longsheng. Here, the highway runs alongside the Xunjiang River, often just a short distance from the water. Wide stretches of the river appear calm and emerald green, reflecting the surrounding mountains. Steep limestone cliffs and forested mountain slopes rise directly from the riverbanks, creating some of the most scenic views along the route. Above the valley, the Yutan Viaduct of the Guilin–Sanjiang Expressway soars across the mountainside. The contrast is striking: the river flowing quietly beside the old national highway below, while massive expressway bridges span the valley overhead. This unique combination of river scenery and modern engineering has become one of the defining sights of this section of G321. Hope you enjoy this journey.
