The London Bus That Never Was. The XRM Routemaster.

Hello 👋🏻 Following on from my video about the London Transport Alternative Vehicle Evaluation Trials many of you messaged and commented asking about a video on the XRM project... so here we go. London Transport was having a bad time in the 1970's. It had bought AEC Merlins and AEC Swift single decker buses and Daimler and later Leyland Fleetlines as part of its bus reshaping plan. This plan was a big advocate of one man operated buses in London not only for economic reasons but also for dealing with London Transports severe staff shortages. As we know these new one man buses weren't a big success and this proved to London Transport that a modern version of the reliable AEC Routemaster bus was what was needed. One that was specifically built and designed for bus operation in London. This was the XRM Bus Project . I hope you enjoy the brief look at this subject in this video. If you do enjoy it, please like , hype and share the video. Also don't forget to subscribe to my channel so you don't miss my future releases.
