Ash Williams's psychological profile evolves throughout the series, only fully formed in Army of Darkness. Initially, he was a very laid-back character, a bit cowardly, romantic, and just an ordinary guy. But after being tempered by the Necronomicon, Ash became much bolder. All that blood and gore no longer bothers him. He's arrogant, cynical, cruel, and a ruthless killer of evil spirits, yet still kind-hearted, very frivolous, and incredibly charismatic. Thirty years after the incident at the cabin and the time travel, Ash lives as a hermit in his trailer. He's back to work at the supermarket, but this time in a different town. At home, he's considered a murderer, his father doesn't speak to him, and the townspeople have nicknamed him Ashy Slashy, which translates as Ash Slash or Ash Cut. After all, one way to kill a Deadite is to cut it into pieces. It's not like Ash suffers or worries about all this, perhaps deep down, but outwardly, he's the same.
