I won't lie, I've watched the series at least five times. And I recently saw the musical based on the film, which you probably haven't heard of. And I guess you could even call me a fan of the Evil Dead. I can't remember the first time I saw this, frankly, solid trash, in the best sense of the word.................... Of course, Raimi's low-budget amateur film "Into the Woods" wasn't popular and didn't receive much publicity; critics simply overlooked it and passed it by. Lonely by Fate, local critic Michael McWilliams of the Detroit News, who was at the premiere, nevertheless gave it a shout-out. He wrote that this film will likely never compare to the big-budget horror films of our time, but once you've seen it, you'll never forget what happened in "Into the Woods." He even compared Raimi's project to the recently released horror film "The Amityville Horror," saying that the young filmmakers' creation truly hit the mark and was far more frightening. Inspired by this, Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell decided to make a feature-length film with a much larger budget than they had previously had. The initial project was titled "Book of the Dead," which was later changed to "Evil Dead" under the influence of New Line Cinema.
