Follow the Leader | Watch a Family of Ducks Emerge from Abstract Alcohol Ink

I’m never sure what animal I'm going to paint until the alcohol ink background is finished. In this video, the background revealed a mama duck and her 4 ducklings going for a morning swim. I create my backgrounds with bottled alcohol ink, then use 99% isopropyl alcohol with Q-tips and paint brushes to lift and shape the image. Finally, I use alcohol ink markers to add the details that bring each animal to life.
