Watch a Peaceful Rabbit Emerge from Abstract Alcohol Ink

I never know what animal I'm going to paint until the alcohol ink background is finished. This background slowly revealed a peaceful rabbit resting in the meadow—but not before I made a pretty big mistake that I wasn't sure I could recover from. Sometimes the best part of creating is figuring out how to solve the unexpected. In the end, the rabbit emerged, and the finished painting became In the Meadow. I create my backgrounds with bottled alcohol ink, then use 99% isopropyl alcohol with Q-tips and paint brushes to lift and shape the image. Finally, I use alcohol ink markers to add the details that bring each animal to life.
