Osu Kutiya Season 3 – Compittu (කෝම්පිට්ටු)

Making Compittu is a very popular children’s game, which involves using coconut shells and lots of mud and sand, and a very catchy song which is sung as the sand Compittu is supposed to be cooking. Today, inspired by this childhood game, Chef Publis is going to show us how to make real Compittu! Chef Publis of course is using rice (not sand) and kohila (lasia spinosa) to make a delicious dish that will be an interesting favourite among children, and a great lunchtime snack to be sent to school as well. Kohila is a root vegetable that is high in dietary fibres and antioxidants, and is also used for medicinal purposes. It is the ideal vegetable for those suffering from digestion related problems. You can make this Compittu recipe using Nelum Ala, or Lotus Stems as well. Whatever ingredient you use, make sure that it is a nutrient filled one, which will provide you with a healthy diet.
