My 3 Hour “Build” Project...

Hello everyone and welcome back to Old Dad's Modeling Mess. In todays video I bring you something quick and easy, my 3 hour “build” including paint. It’s been quite hot out this week so I haven’t been able to spend much time at the workbench. As I was thinking of what I should do for today’s video it hit me, lets try another 3D print “build”. This gives me something quick and easy to build. Since I needed a tank to print up for this I went over to Cults3D and found a German Pz Kpfw I Ausf. B file. This is 1 of those “easy print” files because the hull is 1 piece along with the running gear and turret so there are only 4 parts to “build” this model. To my surprise this is 1 of those good files that you can take into blender and separate the parts. I found this out because the 1st print of this came out ok but the hatches weren’t very visible so I was going to fix that. After separating the parts I was able to raise the hatches up some so I saved it and printed it up again. They came out better but I knew it would only take me a couple of minutes to raise them for even more detail. I think I spent 15 minutes raising the hatches both times which for me was quicker than using a scriber. Now don’t get me wrong you can print this up and leave it as is if you wanted to I just wanted to make them more visible for myself. The 3rd print took me 2.5 hours to print so if you add that to the 3 hours I spent “building” and painting it I have 6 hours in total from start to finish. It took less than 15 minutes to glue everything up so as it dried I broke out the paints. I painted it Vallejo Dark German Grey directly over the print with no primer since my resin is black. I’m using this as a test to see how the paint holds up to bare resin. I added a couple drops of Vallejo’s White Primer to the leftovers to lighten it up and add contrast. I figured this could be 1 of the Afrika Corps tanks so I gave it a dust wash and called the build done.
