A Follow Up On My 3 Hour “Build” Part 1.

Hello everyone and welcome back to Old Dad's Modeling Mess. In todays video I bring you a follow up to my last video “My 3 hour Build”. This is part 1 due to it being so long so Friday's video will be the final chapter of it and maybe if the weather works with me maybe I’ll have myself a 1/16th scale P1 built. I’m hoping this might help those out who are still on the fence about 3d printing and modeling. I feel there isn’t any difference if you use 3d printed stuff or “aftermarket” stuff like individual track links or metal gun barrels. In the end all we are really doing is gluing stuff together so does it really matter what it’s made of? A few of you guys really liked it and wanted more so with the heat being the way it is I’m good with not being out in it lol. I’ll show you what I did to the PZ 1 but I’m going to make it 1/16th scale. I know there are some if not most of you guys who don’t know how to use Blender. I didn’t know until a couple of years ago myself. I’m not an expert, I’m self taught so there may be better/easier ways to do things but for me it works. I also believe that if you get into 3D printing things knowing how to use a program like Blender is very helpful. Once I have Blender open I import the file in and as I said in the last video this is 1 of the “good” files for 3d printing. If you highlight whichever part you want you can go into edit mode. In edit mode you scroll down until you get to the “separate” option and then click on the “by loose parts”. This will break the part down into it’s parts which allows you to make changes to them. Not all 3d print files are like this, to be honest it doesn’t happen to often especially for free files. As you can see even the rivets are their own piece and this opens up a big “rabbit hole” if you decide to go down that path lol. These little things can make a pretty good difference in the detail of the model. In the smaller version 1st print I did of this model you could barely see the hatches. In the last version they showed up quite nicely so I’ll raise the hatches and break a few things down just to show you what can be done. After raising the hatches and stuff I think I’ll make the fenders their own piece but I’ll leave the tools on them. This only gives me a couple extra parts but you get the idea. Now if you guys would like an even more detailed breakdown of how to do things like individual track links and tools, that sort of thing let me know down in the comments and I’ll make that happen for you. As always Thank You for watching my videos and if you enjoy this type of content drop a like and comment below. This lets Youtube know that people like watching this type of stuff.
