EPISODE #171 PINE TREE, DUCK WATCHING & WATER PLAY

I am still on the last weekend of my holidays and I am not taking it well!! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š It is a long weekend and Elizabeth and family are coming up. I finally finished the gardens I was hoping to, and I am looking forward to their feedback when they arrive. I am up for some praising. Eva is very observant and will compliment changes and new things, and I LOVE that! They have been asking me about the rock garden, so I am looking forward to their reaction. On the agenda for this weekend is replanting the little pine tree at the front of the property. The tree stump we have at the front where we secure the anchor for the chain we put up when we leave, is rotting away, and falling apart slowly. It is a matter of time, before we lose it. It has done its job and we are now looking for alternates, to secure the anchor when the time comes. We are hoping that the little pine tree will take over in a couple of years when the rotting stump will likely be no more. Early this spring, I tried removing the tree on my own, but was unable to. The roots are all gnarled and intertwined with other tree roots and I need help with it. Elizabeth has volunteered for the job and I accepted the offer. It was tricky removing the little pine tree, but we managed. While doing so, the kids had followed our resident duck family along the shoreline. I saw them going towards Sparky but I assumed they were going to the Adirondak chairs as they like sitting there. We did not see them going on to the floating dock. So we had a bit of a scare there, and discussed this with them. They heard us calling, and did respond but with a whisper, as they did not want to startle the ducks. While they enjoyed the ducks, and Sammy Short Tail who kept looking for peanuts, we planted the little pine tree at the front. I watered and fertilized it and will keep an eye on it over the next few days while I am here, as it is still hot and humid. We have rain in the forecast later this week, so it should be okay until I return on the weekend. I went in to prepare a charcuterie board for lunch, and they soon followed. We stayed in for a bit as they are going swimming after and Elizabeth wanted them to relax for a bit. Eva is very interested in swimming and pushes the boundary especially when with me. They are registered for swimming classes in the fall, but Carter is cautious and will not push boundaries as Eva. So she, Elizabeth and Joe were out on the lake, but Carter was not up for it. He put on the hip waders and kept his distance. They allowed space and soon Carter was โ€˜convincedโ€™ to go in. He did well and was more at ease after. We were very proud of him and Eva today as they both had breakthroughs . They spent close to 3 hours in the lake. They did come out for juice and cookies, but then back in! Such an amazing day, very relaxing with lots of accomplishments too!! If you like my content, please consider giving me a thumbs up, share, comment or subscribe to my channel.
