I Investigated how Goa's Traditional Feni is Made !!! 🤯

Today We are Exploring Goa's Raw and Unexplored Side, The day began with something unexpected, a crocodile safari through dense mangroves. As our boat slowly moved through the narrow water channels, our guide explained the different types of mangroves, how they survive in salty water, and why they are so important to Goa’s ecosystem. It wasn’t just a ride… it felt like entering a completely different world. And then came the moment, deep inside the mangroves, under the shade of trees, we spotted them. Two massive crocodiles, almost 16 feet long, resting silently. No movement, no sound… just pure power and calmness at the same time. It was thrilling, slightly scary, and honestly unforgettable. From the wild side of Goa, we moved towards something deeply rooted in its culture - Feni. At a small, authentic local setup called Minali Bar and Restaurant, we met a local who has been making traditional Feni for over 30 years. But this wasn’t just tasting alcohol this was experiencing a legacy. Inside his beautifully preserved Goan-style home, which also had a small antique museum, we got to try different variations masala feni, cashew feni, jeera feni, ginger feni, and even lemongrass feni. Each one had its own unique aroma and taste. More importantly, he showed us the entire process from the traditional utensils to the distillation setup (bhatti). It made us realize how much effort and heritage goes into every single bottle. But then came a thought that stayed with us… When we asked him about the future of this business, he said something real — that his generation might be the last to continue this tradition. The next generation is not stepping into it. And that hits hard. Because sometimes, culture doesn’t disappear suddenly… it fades slowly. After such a deep experience, we ended our day on a lighter note — with a fun food twist. At Sandeep Coldrink and Vadapav, we tried a unique fusion — a burger-style vada pav. Stuffed with cabbage, coriander, moong, and a mix of flavors, it was different from the classic Mumbai vada pav… but surprisingly tasty in its own way. And just like that, the day came to an end. From mangroves and crocodiles… to Feni and fading traditions… to fusion street food — this wasn’t the Goa people usually see. This was a Goa that feels, teaches, and makes you think.
