Murano Lights - Cane Plunge - Lampworking / Flameworking - 102.82 - 104 Glass
Hello Everyone! ✨🌹 I don’t know many glass artists who haven’t been inspired by Italian glass at some point along their journey. There is something unmistakably special about Venetian and Murano glass… you can almost always recognize them immediately! The way transparent colors, rich decoration, touches of dichro, and intricate murrini come together creates such a timeless and eye-catching beauty. ✨ Today I wanted to create something inspired by that spirit, but with my own little twist… or perhaps I should say plunge! 😂 Instead of using traditional murrini, I’ll be using veiled cane plunged into the surface of the bead to create the decoration. It’s actually a very simple technique, but it can add such an exciting and dynamic touch to abstract designs! As these beads began to come together in the flame, they reminded me of tiny glowing lights suspended in pools of transparent color. I also chose a palette inspired by some of the rich jewel tones so often seen in classic Murano glass. I think a whole strand of these would make an absolutely beautiful set! 🌈✨ I hope you enjoy this Murano-inspired plunge bead and feel inspired to experiment with the technique in your own work. Thanks so much for joining me!
