Millefiori Pendants - Lampworking / Flameworking - 102.83 - 104 Glass

Hello out there! ✨🌹 Last week’s demo was inspired by the beauty of Murano glass, and that inspiration naturally carried over into today’s project. Some of the earliest lampworking rods available to modern beadmakers came from Moretti-Effetre Glass, now known as Effetre Glass, on the island of Murano, Italy. They are still producing glass there to this day, along with the famous millefiori murrini that have become one of the hallmarks of Murano glass. What fascinates me most is that the millefiori technique has roots that stretch back to ancient mosaic glassmaking. Over the centuries, Murano artisans preserved, refined, and perfected these colorful patterns, passing the knowledge from one generation to the next. Today, we have the opportunity to work with many of the same decorative elements that have captivated glass lovers for hundreds of years. In today’s demo, I’ll be creating a simple pendant covered with a field of transparent millefiori. These tiny murrini are surprisingly easy to apply with a little practice, and they add an incredible amount of color, detail, and visual interest to the finished piece. They’re pure eye candy and a lot of fun to work with! I hope you enjoy this one and feel inspired to experiment with some of Effetre’s beautiful millefiori in your own work.
