Folding Knife Restoration [Ebony Handle With Black Blade]

For this restoration of an old pocket knife, I used a variety of techniques to bring it back to life. Only the heavily rusted blade with its metal ring remained – the original wooden handle had completely rotted away over time. The metal ring was still filled with dirt, and the rust had even eaten a hole into the blade. Twice, I almost gave up on this project – but quitting was not an option! To restore the blade, I rebuilt it using liquid metal adhesive and protected it with a cold bluing treatment to prevent future rust. I crafted a brand-new handle from high-quality ebony wood. The locking mechanism, made of brass and steel, required precise work on the lathe and milling machine. I used a quarter-round router bit for fine adjustments and carefully drilled all necessary holes. Sanding was also a crucial step to achieve a flawless finish. In the end, the blade is smaller due to the rust damage, but the folding knife is fully functional again! This was a challenging project, but it was absolutely worth the effort.
