It refers to a situation where you're dieting without realizing it, or rather, without admitting it. It's a big problem because you force yourself to follow a lot of restrictions and deprivations to control your food intake. You do it voluntarily by imposing certain extremely strict eating rules on yourself because you're afraid of gaining weight. We then talk about a "pseudo" diet because there's no conscious decision to follow a diet. But the result is the same... "You don't eat bread in the evening." This is a typical rule we impose on ourselves because we believe it's not good. Actually, that's wrong; you can absolutely eat bread in the evening. Bread isn't the problem: it's the quantity or what you put on it. ;-) We also often see this phenomenon of pseudo-dieting among those who have followed point-based diets. Even after stopping the diet, they continue to avoid the foods that had the most points... Because of this pseudo-diet, we remain stuck in the diet mentality where we judge foods as either good or bad. And if we eat bad foods, we become a bad person... That's completely false! What you put on your plate doesn't make you a good or bad person. We need to stop judging food. Intuitive eating aims precisely to repair this negative relationship with food. To be able to eat in a balanced way, it's necessary to let go of all these prejudices. There is food that is more or less healthy, and there is food that brings us more or less pleasure. That's all!
