Lace Edges & Layered Pages | A Victorian Childhood (Part 7)
This is the seventh video in my series transforming The Kindergarten: Home and School Culture into a handmade journal inspired by Victorian-era childhood, vintage materials, and traditional bookmaking. In this episode, I begin adding some of the finishing details that give the journal its character and visual rhythm. I trim selected page edges with lace to create a soft, decorative profile when the book is closed, and then work with a palette of blue-toned vintage and antique ephemera to build out the interior. Using layered papers, I create a feature page that includes: a combination of antique and vintage paper elements a custom pocket for holding smaller pieces and subtle variations in texture and tone This stage is about composition — how colour, repetition, and small details come together across the journal to create a cohesive feel.
