[SeMoCA Lacquer Craft] 12. Refining Lacquer in Kyoto, Japan | Tsutsumi Asakichi Lacquer Shop Refining Lacquer in Kyoto, Japan This video is a research result of the Korea-Japan International Lacquer Project conducted in 2025. It is a related series to the Craft Material Documentation Project conducted from 2020 to 2021. The twelfth episode is ‘Refining Lacquer in Kyoto, Japan.’ Located in Kyoto, Japan, Tsutsumi Asakichi Lacquer Shop is a company specializing in lacquer refining that has been passed down through four generations. The lacquer refined here is utilized in various fields, including the production of works by lacquer artisans and artists, and the restoration of cultural heritage. In this video, we met with Mr. Takuya Tsutsumi, the representative of Tsutsumi Asakichi Lacquer Shop, to document the lacquer refining process.
