[SeMoCA Lacquerware Crafting] 13. Lacquerware Craftsman in Kyoto, Japan | Miki Hyoetsu Lacquerware Crafting in Kyoto, Japan This video is a research result of the Korea-Japan International Lacquerware Project conducted in 2025. It is a related series to the Craft Material Documentation Project conducted from 2020 to 2021. The thirteenth installment features a ‘Lacquerware Craftsman in Kyoto, Japan.’ The Hyoetsu family in Kyoto, Japan, has passed down lacquerware production techniques for approximately 100 years. Miki Hyoetsu, the fourth generation, works as a lacquer artist and teaches techniques at the Kyoto University of Art and Crafts. This video documents the lacquerware production process of Mr. Miki Hyoetsu. Watch the video to experience the story of lacquerware imbued with the craftsman's dedication and time.
