Outlander Ep 808 Reaction: "In The Forest"

Enjoy my Outlander Knee Jerk Reaction on episode 808 "In The Forest"... a beautiful and emotionally rich episode that evoked the spirit of early Outlander. As a tribute to the show's roots, Matt Roberts tapped show creator, Ron D. Moore, to write the first of the final trio of Outlander episodes. Tracey Deer teams with Moore to direct the episode. "In The Forest" describes William's desperate quest for answers and identity as he visits Fraser's Ridge and finally confronts Jamie for a genuine breakthrough and building bond. While sprinkling in a few twists, the theme of fatherhood (and all its forms) permeates this episode from start to finish. Even John's abduction at the very end is rooted in his desire to protect William from further threat and danger. Jamie develops a deeper appreciation for the depth of love and protection of his children's other"fathers" (Frank and John) after acknowledging his own depth of love for Fergus - "the son of his heart" - in the cold open. These are fully structured and high production. They are quite time consuming to create.
