Authentic Durban Style Crab Curry

Correction Time stamp: 0:49:04 - 0:51:21 - correction: not mustard seeds but rather merthi seeds Crab curry Cooking time: Approx 1 hour Preparation Clean crab thoroughly Wash well Fry crab Ingredients Crab 1/4 cup oil 1btspn merthi seeds 2 bay leafs 1 tspn turmeric 1 tbspn ginger garlic paste To braise 2 dry chilli 1 large diced onion 1 tbspn ginger garlic paste Curry leaf 1 tspn cumin powder 1 tspn coriander powder 1 tbspn turmeric 1 tbspn hot chilli powder 2 green chilli 3 curry spoons masala Some water Salt for taste I used about 12 medium sized tomatoes and liquidised it with some curry leaf and 2 green chilli Fresh coriander to garnish Method Fry crab in below ingredients for about 10 mins until the crab turns pink ⬇️ 1/4 cup oil 1btspn merthi seeds 2 bay leafs 1 tspn turmeric 1 tbspn ginger garlic paste Use the same oil to braise the crab. Add the dried chillies and onions, follow with some curry leaf, green chilli and ginger garlic paste. Once the onions are translucent add the ground spices (cumin, coriander, turmeric, chilli powder and masala). Add some water if needed and proceed to add the crab. Stir well. Add some salt and water if needed , let the crab cook for about 45 minutes. Add the tomatoes and cook for a further 15 minutes. Finish with some coriander. Serving suggestions Serve with some basmati rice, but crab is equally tasty with fresh white bread😋 Durban South Africa lets here from you!
