We’ve Finally Made It Into Italy!

We begin this chapter in Nauders, beneath blue and sunny skies and near the top of the Alps as our route goes. We ascend the last few hundred feet up Reschen Pass and enter Italy, our last country of the tour. We trace the shore of the Reschensee, home of the partially submerged and oft photographed bell tower before settling down for lunch along the shoreline. As temperatures climb we descend down the course of the Adige River, through a tapestry of spectacular views and alpine villages and along one of the finest drops we have ever had the pleasure of riding. In Prato Alvo Stelvio, near the base of Stelviopass, we find a bike shop to adjust our well worn brakes and spend the night to the sound of cowbells. The morning finds us riding through a spectacular valley, with wall to wall apple orchards, just in time for harvest.
