Trail 50 Descent to Eucalyptus Road (Fort Ord)

Dropping in for a fast, winding, raw audio edit down the full length of Trail 50 at Fort Ord National Monument. This trail is a classic slice of Monterey singletrack, serving up wide-open views, sudden technical switchbacks, and deep pockets of sand that challenge your front-tire traction as you drop down toward the canyon floor. Location: Fort Ord National Monument, CA Trail: Trail 50 (Full Descent) End Connector: Eucalyptus Road Bike: Specialized Turbo Levo Comp Carbon Camera: GoPro Hero 3 Style: Pure trail audio. No music, no commentary—just the raw sound of tire knobs digging for traction, suspension working the terrain, and the safety bell keeping the trail clear. The Ride Experience The edit kicks off right from the upper northern gateway, instantly plunging into the upper spine of Trail 50. The trail starts with a series of sweeping, wide-open corners through the coastal scrub brush, letting you carry excellent momentum right off the bat. Because we are carrying serious speed into some blind corners and wooded sections on the lower half of the mountain, you'll hear my trail bell switched on for safety during the faster plunges. It keeps things safe for any hikers or riders climbing up while allowing us to keep off the brakes and let the bike run. As we cross the mid-section, the trail drops into a tight, winding serpentine rhythm. The blind, sandy switchbacks come up fast here, so you'll hear the trail bell switched on for safety as we navigate the trickier corners to alert any riders grinding their way up the climb. After fighting through the tightest S-curves, the trail straightens out for a fast, ripping lower singletrack charge, cutting right through the lower tree cover before making a clean final run-out onto Eucalyptus Road.
