Trail 70 Northwest Descent & Jumps (Fort Ord)

Dropping in for a fast, raw audio edit hammering Northwest starting from Watkins Gate Road down the full length of Trail 70 at Fort Ord National Monument. Heading in this direction turns the trail into a ripping, gravity-fed singletrack run that lets you carry massive momentum through sweeping bends, rolling grade dips, and a ton of fun trail features. Location: Fort Ord National Monument, CA Trail: Trail 70 (Northwest Descent with Jumps) Bike: Specialized Turbo Levo Comp Carbon Camera: GoPro Hero 3 Style: Pure trail audio. No music, no commentary—just the sound of tire knobs digging for traction, the suspension working the terrain, and the raw trail noise. The Ride Experience The edit kicks off as we tip the bike over the ridge line and point it Northwest. This direction gives you a sustained, fast descent cutting through open, sun-drenched chaparral. What makes this trail an absolute blast are the 12 man-made dirt jumps scattered all the way down the line. It gives the descent an awesome, playful flow where you can let the bike float and catch some air between the corners. Because we are carrying serious speed down the mountain and popping off features into several blind, twisting segments, the trail bell is turned on for safety to alert any climbing riders or hikers well before we hit the corners. As the trail plunges lower, the singletrack tightens up with some quick, sandy directional changes that test your front-tire traction before dropping you out into the lower canyon connector network.
