Dropping in for a technical, raw eMTB edit covering a fantastic multi-trail loop in the heart of Fort Ord National Monument. Location: Fort Ord National Monument, CA Route Flow: Jacks Road ➔ Trail 80 ➔ Trail 84 ➔ Trail 85 ➔ Trail 82 ➔ Mudhen Lake connector Bike: Specialized Turbo Levo Comp Carbon Style: Pure trail audio. No commentary, no music—just the unfiltered sound of tire knobs fighting for traction in the sand and the distinct hum of the eMTB motor. The Ride Experience The edit kicks off right from Jacks Road, immediately testing our rear-tire traction on the winding, exposed sand climbs of Trail 80. From there, we open it up on Trail 84, a long, steady singletrack climb cutting across open, sun-drenched hillsides. The scenery changes fast as we hit the upper loops: Trail 85 and Trail 82 plunge us directly into dense oak canopy. This section delivers tight, technical twists, sudden elevation drops, and winding ribbon trails that require quick reflexes and aggressive line choices. Finally, the route snakes its way down the northern descent, finishing with a fast run-out right near the scenic tree-lined edge of Mudhen Lake.
