Le campane di Intragna (VB)

The church in Intragna (Italy) gained independence from the central church in Verbania in 1618, exactly one hundred years after the old medieval oratory had been enlarged at the behest of the local population. The church dedicated to the Apostle James was completely rebuilt in the 18th century, reaching its current size and housing no less than seven altars, the main one of which was made of polychrome marble by the best Milanese craftsmen of the time. e' flat - f' - g' - a' flat - b' flat The bell tower, recently restored, has a concert of five bells in the key of E flat major, all made in 1837 in the foundry of Michele Comerio, who had settled permanently in Milan a few years earlier. The five bells are rung by some bell-ringing friends, who came to help the sacristan and his cousin during the village's patronal feast. The Intrasca valley was inhabited since prehistoric times due to the presence of an important stream, which made the surrounding land and mountains very lush. The area became part of the Duchy of Milan in 1447, a time when Intragna was already well known. The first mention dates back to 1124, with a name contained in an important parchment preserved in Intra. The ancient oratory dedicated to the apostle St James was completely rebuilt during the 13th century, undergoing further modifications over the following centuries. The first major extension of the new building took place in 1525, which prompted Cardinal Taverna to create a new parish on 16 November 1617. The church was completely rebuilt in the first half of the 18th century, when it reached its final form. #italy #bells #church #bell #culture #landscape #catholic #catholicchurch #cinematic #mountains #2024 #history Music track: Epic Cinematic Trailer by Infraction [No Copyright Music] / Giants League
