Pelvic Floor Heath Part 1 - Find It!

This is the first in a 3 part series on finding, moving and releasing the pelvic floor muscles. When working with pelvic floor muscles that are not functioning properly, there needs to be awareness and release before engagement or strengthening. Rather than working with the pelvic floor muscles in isolation (as Kegel exercises do), the pelvic floor functions best when it moves in conjunction with the other deep core muscles including the diaphragm and transversus abdominis. Part 1 gives some suggestions on how to feel and connect with the pelvic floor. Part 2 uses imagery, mudra and breathing techniques to get the respiratory and pelvic diaphragm to harmonize to their natural rhythm. Part 3 offers a Restorative Yoga Legs Up the Wall practice and guided pelvic floor meditation to relaxing music.
