Pelvic Floor Heath Part 2 - Pelvic Floor Breathing

Though the pelvic floor cannot "breathe", it is intimately timed to move with the respiratory diaphragm. Learning how the diaphragm moves and how to do diaphragmatic breathing can enhance the awareness of the pelvic diaphragm. Pranayama breathing is also used to initiate physical movement of the pelvic floor muscles. Though initially this movement may take effort and conscious awareness,, with focus and practice, the respiratory diaphragm, transversus abdominis, and pelvic floor will all harmonize in their natural rhythm. Part 1 Pelvic Floor Heath gives some suggestions on how to find, feel and connect with the space of the pelvic floor. Part 3 Pelvic Floor health offers a Restorative Legs Up the Wall yoga practice with a guided pelvic floor meditation.
