6 Hour Mission to Thai Paradise 🇹🇭

📍Koh Samet, Thailand 🇹🇭 We started the day chasing ghosts. Google said a bus would come. It didn’t. Just sweat, sun, and the kind of silence that tells you you’ve been had. Pattaya was cooking at 38°C, no clouds, no breeze, just a bag of peas between us and passing out. Terminal 21 wasn’t a terminal. It was just the name of a mall. Welcome to the grind. After dead ends and false promises, we found a songthaew driver with a heart. Said he knew a spot for a minibus to Rayong. That bus was long gone too. Another lead. Another maybe. Eventually, a battered Toyota Hiace rolled up like a gift from the gods. We climbed in, starving, hopeful, wrecked. In Rayong, the driver didn’t just dump us. He walked us to the next desk. Class act. Ban Phe was up next. But first, fried chicken straight from the oil, served on a street corner by a woman who didn’t smile but damn could she fry. The kind of food that makes your fingers burn and your soul feel alright. At Ban Phe pier, things got strange again. No crowds. No signs. Just a quiet fishing boat that doubled as a ferry. We boarded via the roof, climbing across metal sheets and sliding down a bench. No life jackets. No questions. Just the sound of ropes creaking and sea air cutting through the noise in your head. Thirty minutes later, we landed on Koh Samet. No touts. No scams. Just the hum of mopeds and the smell of salt and sunscreen. Found our bungalow, £32 a night, one step from the beach. Basic. Beautiful. Exactly enough. On the boat, we’d met a Thai guy who lives in Florida. Said to meet him at Naga Bar. So we did. Jack Daniels over ice. Sunset. New friend. No plans.
