Is John's of Bleecker Street Worth The Hype? Is Bleecker Street Pizza Better?

When it comes to the best pizza in New York City, every New Yorker has an opinion. Some would say the famous Lucali's Pizza is the best. Others more say Joe's Pizza in NYC is where it's at, at least the original location if none other. However, one of the spots that is most consistently touted as the best pizza in Manhattan at least is John's of Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village. The legendary coal-fired pizza joint in the West Village area has been around for almost 100 years and has long lines at pretty much any time of day. But is John's of Bleecker Street legit or is John's of Bleecker Street overrated? After all, the lines are quite tremendous at times, and often times places that are highly touted in NYC end up being tourist traps. To test how good John's of Bleecker Street is, we decided to eat at another well-regarded place down the street, Bleecker Street Pizza. Bleecker Street Pizza is also one of the best pizza spots in the city, with many of you possibly recognizing the Bleecker Street Pizza food network episode. Personally, Bleecker Street Pizza is not my favorite slice, but it is a good one and it will be a good barometer to measure how good John's of Bleecker Street is.
