Imperial Stout with Cocoa Powder: First Taste - Brew Dudes

Coming out of the vaults, we have a one year old Imperial Stout that was brewed with cocoa powder. With a starting gravity of 1.100, this beer really needed to age a bit before we tried it. John had brewed this stout as sort of a clean out the fridge stout at the end of 2020. This beer had a wonderful chocolate graham cracker aroma to it. The flavor delivers with notes of milk chocolate and a touch of caramel malt. This beer comes in at ~9%ABV with a very dark brown color. John admits it could be a little stronger in the roasted malt flavor notes to really be an Imperial Stout. Overall, the beer works and is a pleasant winter warmer of sorts. Mike re-labelled this beer as an Imperial Nut Brown Ale maybe. Have you ever aged a beer 1 year before giving it a taste? Let us know in the comments.
