Street Running and Switching on the Juniata Valley Railroad

The Juniata Valley Railroad, based outta Lewistown, PA, is a shortline operation owned by Seda Cog (who also owns the North Shore, Nittany & Bald Eagle and Lycoming Valley Railroads) which handles NS interchange traffic as well as works several businesses and customers in the Lewistown area during the work week. I decided to use a personal day to finally get these guys in action after catching them on a very light day back in April during my trip to Altoona. I decided to go out to Lewistown on February 5th, 2020, and around 7:30 AM, I found the JVRR-1 crew getting on board JVRR 2106, a former P&S SW9 painted in a sharp PRR inspired scheme. I was able to watch them as they shuffled covered hoppers from NS around the yard in Lewistown before they gathered up their consist to head up the Burnham Branch, bringing 12 cars with scrap metal to Standard Steel in Burnham, as well as one loaded centerbeam for APM Lumber. JVRR-1 heads up the branch through the famous street-running section of their trackage through Water Street in Lewistown and through Derry Park in Burnham before they arrive at the Steel Mill. After swapping out their 12 loads for 1 empty, JVRR-1 heads back south to Lewistown, dropping the lumber car at APM Lumber en-route. After returning from Burnham, JVRR-1 gathers up a consist of boxcars to take up the Long Industrial Track, pulling and spotting at First Quality Tissue and dropping one car at Greenbrier Rail before heading back to the yard, at which point I headed for home..
