Things move at a rapid pace at Ingolstadt's main train station. There's no shortage of long-distance and regional trains, and freight trains are also plentiful. In addition, there's a freight yard complete with a hump yard – one that's still actively used. So, in Ingolstadt, I was able to observe not only trains in motion but also freight cars being pushed down the hump. Some cars (so-called "safety cars") even had employees manning the handbrakes so they could actively regulate the speed (otherwise, the speed of the rolling freight cars is reduced by track brakes and, ultimately, by wheel chocks). Naturally, car transporters loaded with brand-new Audis are also pushed down the hump track in Ingolstadt so they can be sorted into their respective destination tracks. The MüNüX (aka FRESH) is also back in action. On the one hand, it was a Skoda push-pull train set (with a Class 102 locomotive) and on the other hand, a former Intercity train set with a Class 101 locomotive.
