شماره چهارم از «دوران» گفتگویی بود با اسفندیار باتمان‌قلیچ. این گفتگو، موثر و مهم است زیرا اسفندیار از تغییر نگاهی در امر بین‌المللی سخن می‌گوید که شاید گمشده عرصه سیاست‌ورزی خارجی ما باشد. او نگاهی اقتصادی به مسأله سیاست دارد، تلاش ایران برای تغییر پارادایم را می‌فهمد و آن را ارج می‌گذارد اما از تصلب و ذات‌انگاری پرهیز می‌دهد. او به شکاف‌هایی اشاره می‌کند که می‌تواند کنش‌گاهی برای کشوری چون ایران باشد، با بسته نگهداشتن طولانی‌مدت تنگه هرمز و یا عوارض گرفتن از آن مخالف است و در نهایت سیاست خارجی اصولی در این شرایط را تعریف ایران به عنوان کشوری با رفتار معقول در برابر جنون و توحش و غیرعادی‌بودگی اسراییل می‌داند. این گفتگو در سایه مذاکرات در جریان ایران و آمریکا می‌تواند بسیار راه‌گشا باشد. The fourth episode of "Doran" was a conversation with Esfandyar Batmanghelidj, an effective and imposrtan talk for Esfandiar speaks of a shift in perspective on international affairs that may be missing in our foreign policy arena. He looks at the foreign policy through the lense of economics. While he understands and appreciates Iran's attempt to change the paradigm, he avoids rigidity and essentialism. Esfandyar points out gaps that can be a place of action for a country like Iran, opposes keeping the Strait of Hormuz closed for a long time or taking tolls from it, and ultimately considers a principled foreign policy in these circumstances, one that defines Iran as a country with reasonable behavior against the madness, savagery, and abnormality of Israel. This conversation can be very helpful in light of the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States.
