This time we're working on a rare 1968 Bridgestone Mountain 90. Before we ever think about tearing into a vintage motorcycle, we let the bike tell us what it needs. Spark, fuel, and compression—that's where every revival starts. This little Mountain 90 had a few clues that someone had already tried to wake it up. A new tire, fresh spark plug, and new plug boot suggested someone had been here before, but did they ever get it running? After checking for spark and giving it the highly scientific "thumb over the spark plug hole" compression test, things were looking promising. A peek inside the cylinder revealed one of the cleanest combustion chambers we've seen in a long time. Unfortunately, the fuel tank wasn't quite as pretty, but hopefully the fuel filter can earn its keep. One interesting discovery was that this bike is missing its one-year-only 1968 oil tank/air cleaner combination cover, replaced sometime in its life with an earlier version that doesn't quite fit correctly. Then came the moment of truth. We kicked it over with the old gas still in the tank... and it fired on the very first kick. At that point there was only one thing left to do—take this little Bridgestone for its first ride around the yard in who knows how long.
