Roger, 36: Homeless for 15 Years, Now Rebuilding His Life | Addiction, Jail & Recovery
Roger, 36, spent nearly 15 years in and out of homelessness, addiction, and jail before finally finding a path toward stability. In this interview, he shares what daily life on the streets was really like—waking up at bus stops before sunrise to escape the Arizona heat, searching for water, finding places to clean up, and doing whatever it took to survive while battling addiction. Roger talks openly about his difficult childhood, growing up in poverty, moving constantly, losing his father, and having a mother addicted to meth. He also shares the heartbreaking reality that his younger brother is currently living on the streets and struggling with fentanyl addiction. After getting out of jail last October, Roger entered Crossroads, completed the program, moved into sober living, and eventually rented his own room. Today, he's working, rebuilding his life, paying off a car, and focused on staying sober, saving money, and completing probation. His message is simple: learn from your past, don't live in it, and change your environment if you want to change your life.
