Shinyanga Regional Commissioner, Hon. Mboni Mhita @mboni_mhita on behalf of the people of the region, has launched and officially handed over five new vehicles to the Fire and Rescue Service, as part of the Government's efforts to improve emergency and rescue services in the region. The exercise was held at the grounds of the Regional Commissioner's Office, where RC Mhita urged Fire Department officers to maintain the vehicles and use them with great efficiency, while urging citizens to use them at the right time when disasters such as fires or accidents occur. "These vehicles are for saving lives. We need cooperation between the community and the Fire Department. Citizens should use these services on time, and the Department should ensure that these vehicles are well maintained for the benefit of all," said Mhita. For his part, the Acting Commander of the Shinyanga Regional Fire and Rescue Service, Thomas Majuto, said the arrival of the vehicles is a great relief for them as they previously had only two vehicles, but now they have reached five, which will increase the efficiency of rescue operations. The vehicles handed over include: A large fire engine Two ambulances A small communication vehicle An inspection vehicle Majuto said the arrival of the vehicles also expands the ability to reach many areas quickly and provide modern services, thus helping to reduce the harm that may occur during disasters. RC Mhita has emphasized that the Sixth Phase Government under Hon. President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan will continue to improve rescue services in the country, to ensure that the lives and property of citizens are properly protected.
