On the 11th, work such as placing reinforcing bars was underway at the new stadium construction site, and areas where soil was being piled up were also visible. Construction will intensify from March 2026, and foundation work for the building will begin in May. The new stadium has a total project cost of 15.8 billion yen. It will have a seating capacity of approximately 15,000 people, and a roof is planned for part of the seating area. Regarding the construction, a major sponsor withdrew in October 2025, temporarily putting the fundraising of approximately 5 billion yen for construction costs on hold. However, in February 2026, Escon, a real estate development company headquartered in Tokyo, secured an investment of up to 5 billion yen. By the end of June, Escon plans to acquire 98 percent of Montedio Yamagata's shares, making it a subsidiary. The new stadium is scheduled for completion and opening in August 2028.
