Unchartered Waters - Rivers, Roads & History | Charters Towers

We leave Clermont, Queensland—a place close to our hearts—and head deep into Queensland’s outback along Langlan Road and Frankfield Road, reconnecting with the iconic Gregory Developmental Road. This ride takes us through vast pastoral country once explored by Ludwig Leichhardt, following in the footsteps of early expeditions that helped map Australia’s interior. After a quick roadside stop, we cross the Belyando River—part of the mighty Burdekin River system, one of the largest river catchments in the country, named by Leichhardt after Thomas Burdekin. With long, straight stretches of open highway ahead, we continue north toward Charters Towers, Queensland—another historic town shaped by gold and the outback spirit. If you love outback travel, history, and motorcycle adventures—this one’s for you. 👍 Don’t forget to like & subscribe for more Aussie adventure rides. 🏍 Two Up Travels 📍 Exploring North Queensland 🧭 Inspired by History #NorthQueensland #Leichhardt #AustralianHistory #TwoUpTravel #AdventureRiding#motorcycleadventure #2up #pillion #notgreynomads #couplevlog #overlandertwoup #overlanderadventure #motorcycletravel #adventuretravel #longformcontent #overlanding #motorcycletwoupadventures #motorcycleadventure #twoupmotorcycling #twoup#adventuretravel #yamaha #tenere #supertenere#adventuretravel #rolleston #backroads #dirtroads #twouptravel#explorers #australiahistory #australiatravel #chartertowers#augustusgregory #ludwigleichhardt #qldgemfields#gemfields#goldtowns #goldhistory #clermont #belyandocrossing
