Conquering Mt Misery | Our Final Ride to Port Douglas

Leaving Undara behind, we set out on one of the most memorable rides of our Queensland adventure. The day began with a long journey ahead. Anticipating smooth riding, we diverted onto Coolgarra Rd to take the "scenic" route. This decision was one we began to question not long into it where rough conditions, washed-out sections and remote scenery tested both rider, passenger and machine. From the historic mining town of Irvinebank, we rejoined the highway at Herberton, and headed North through Atherton as the landscape transformed from rugged outback country into the lush tropics of Far North Queensland. Descending to the coast, we joined the iconic Captain Cook Highway before finally arriving in Port Douglas—our destination and home for the next three days.
