This animal-loving man from Salamanca dreamed of becoming a veterinarian despite having nightmares about a pink rabbit: "At daycare, there was a man dressed as a rabbit. Everyone liked him, but I didn't. I had this image of a rabbit peeking through the door, and I had nightmares." We don't know if this childhood trauma had anything to do with it, but he ended up choosing architecture: "I went to Valladolid before I was even 18, and I found myself alone in another city, completely vulnerable because my parents weren't there, and neither were my friends. I felt strange." If we add to this the fact that the materials he needed for his degree were expensive, that he didn't like the professors' teaching style, that his family wasn't going through a good financial time, and that he didn't make any close friends, we can understand why one of his options was to drop out of school. He started working as a DJ to earn some money, although the turning point came thanks to social media: "I uploaded two or three photos every day, and people liked them." What began as innocent photos taken in his student residence room ended with Álvaro Mel being recognized as one of the most important influencers in Spain. He left Valladolid behind and came to Madrid to try his luck, thanks to his friend and actor Guillermo Campra. Campra took him in and opened the doors to the world of acting: "He encouraged me to audition with Eva Leira and Yolanda Serrano, and I thought I had nothing to lose," he said. His first project was "La otra mirada" (The Other Look) alongside Ana Wagener and Macarena García. "Imagine my mother's reaction when I told her I was going to be in a TV series," he told Mara Torres.
