Reincarnation (Tōhō Yumejikū ~ The Phantasmagoria of Dim. Dream) — Jun'ya "ZUN" Ōta, 1997
COMMENT: Mima's theme For those who don't know Mima, she was the last boss from the last game, Story of Eastern Wonderland. This time, she's not a boss or anything, just a normal character, so I tried not to make her theme song too badass... You know, I just don't get her personality at all. (Even though she's my own character...) Well, what about the song. The melody for the main chorus part is very simple, but feels really nice... Doesn't it? (Maybe because it's simple?) I guess, tho' I wouldn't say it's exactly simple. Maybe I'm just still used to my older chiptune songs, so anything more complex than that already puzzles me every so often. And well, she might be a normal character in this game, but she still is your final boss if you play as Reimu. Just like in the 2nd game. And for some reason the last normal stage has a different fixed track, so I don't get to listen to this one as much. Maybe ZUN made this based on how the game he got the inspiration to make this one from (Twinkle Star Sprites) works. I haven't played the original yet, but just by looking at screenshots I can already make obvious connections. It's also weird how this one being played on qvgmsplit is so quiet compared to when it's being played in my emulator. I'm pretty sure it goes beyond the mixing settings I chose for each set of channels, because of how huge the difference is. Hmm. Maybe this one's dump has a slightly altered sound driver, or the other way around? Who knows··· Another interesting thing is how the track titles in this game are quite inconsistent. In later games, you get "stuff ~ more stuff", while in this one, while you do get that, you also get stuff like this one and similar, that are less than 5 words at best. 'Tis kinda funny. Another also interesting thing is how I posted this video on day 22, and the word "Mima" has 2 syllables with 2 letters each! COINCIDENCE?? (yes···)
